Appeal for assistance during lockdown
Sahara is a grass root level voluntary organization working in
Hyderabad and rural areas of Telangana for the past 34 years. Sahara supports the
underprivilegedthrough various programs such as child education sponsor,
aged-care sponsor, vocational training & life skill development,
environment conservation and health camps.
Their head office is situated near Musi river belt which consists
of several slums. The nearby population includes migrant families consisting of
daily wage workers, auto drivers, single parent families, elderly and road
side vendors.Due to Coronavirus lockdown, the regular income of these familieshas
been disrupted and they are unable to purchase essential goods for their
sustenance. Some of the beneficiaries don’t have ration
card while some have health problems and thus cannot go to feeding centers.
Sahara is seeking support to procure
ration kits containing essentials such as dal, rice, oil, flour, spices, vegetables,
fruits, sugar, milk powder, washing/bathing soapetc for these families. Each ration
kit containing a month’s worth of essentials costs approximately INR 1500 per
family. The target is to support 150 families in the nearby region.The bank
